Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) was a German composer and organist of the Baroque period. He worked in Weimar, Köthen, and Leipzig and produced a large body of sacred and instrumental music.
The Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, BWV 1007–1012, were composed circa 1717–1723 during his employment at the court of Köthen, where instrumental composition was a primary focus. The suites were not published in Bach’s lifetime and survived through manuscript copies before entering the standard repertoire in the late nineteenth century.
This arrangement for solo guitar is by Jeffrey McFadden, Chair of Guitar Studies at the University of Toronto. His performance of this arrangement is available through Naxos Records.
