Dr. Heva Chan's extensive qualifications include diplomas in piano performance and teaching, composition, and electronic music from prestigious institutions in Vienna, as well as advanced degrees in composition, musicology, and ethnomusicology from universities in Austria, Taiwan, and Australia. During her studies in Austria, Heva had the chance to travel to 37 countries for research and performance; and was awarded numerous scholarships and prizes, as well as being awarded both Austrian and Australian citizenships for her Distinguished Talent in the fields of Arts Education and Music. As the Head of School of Music (2003 – 2015) at Wesley Institute/Excelsia College (Christian University College), Sydney, Australia, she was recognized for her leadership and administrative skills.
Her music and academic work have been presented, performed and recorded in numerous concerts, international seminars, symposiums, conferences and music festivals in Asia, Europe, America, Canada and Australia. She is multilingual, with skills in Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and German. As a composer, performer, musicologist and music educator, her passion is to share Christ’s love and her knowledge and experience with others, encouraging each other to use our gifts and talents for serving the world.
