Edgar Omar Rojas Ruiz.
Edgar Omar Rojas Ruiz is a Mexican composer, guitarist and researcher born in Tamaulipas in 1982. He holds a master's degree and a doctorate in composition from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic, where he is now a postdoctoral researcher and faculty member teaching Latin American music history and children's music composition. He began his career at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios de la Música in Mexico City, where he taught from 2002 to 2014; his mentors include María Antonieta Lozano, Enrico Chapela and Marcela Rodríguez.
His music often draws on Mexican history and Indigenous mythology, and on mathematical structures such as the Fibonacci sequence. His works have been performed across the Americas, Europe and Asia, and he has lectured on Latin American music in all three. Rain of Sparks is his first edition with MusiCurate.
