He holds a master's degree and a doctorate in composition from the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, Czech Republic, where he is now a postdoctoral researcher and faculty member teaching Latin American music history and children's music composition. He began his career at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios de la Música in Mexico City, where he taught from 2002 to 2014; his mentors include María Antonieta Lozano, Enrico Chapela and Marcela Rodríguez.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eHis music often draws on Mexican history and Indigenous mythology, and on mathematical structures such as the Fibonacci sequence.
